Eastern Promise

"Do something full of eastern promise" she said. After a moment of excitement I realised that she meant something to eat!!

Well this was my first go of something from my Vietnamese Street Food cookbook by Tracey Lister and Andreas Pohl. Vietnam was an exciting place to visit and the people were lovely. The food was clean and very healthy.

This offering is called Fish Patties with Coriander and Chilli in a Baguette or Banh mi cha ca.

"Something small" I said to her when dishing it up. "size does not matter" she said.

One of the restaurants we tried in Vietnam was run by the KOTO organisation.
It is a worthwhile charity that gives disadvantaged youngsters opportunities in catering and hospitality in Vietnam. A model that could be used all over the world.

Back to the baguette. I can assure you it was lovely and it was filling.

Premiership Cookie Sandwiches by Nigella Dawson

I haven't been around for a while. Bad days. All this rain has been getting on my nerves. The girls and I just cannot stand going out to the clubs in this weather and risk getting our furs wet.

So I have resorted to the cure of all depressions. The one and only drug for a feeling high. Chocolate.

So I thought I would make these premiership chocolate cookies whilst watching Manchester United lose again. Perhaps I will send them some of my cookies because they must be feeling depressed after that display.

Fish and Chips. The saga continues

Here I am left alone again. So what do you have for tea when your by yourself? Fish and Chips......... perhaps the first fast food. Hate Cuisine likes fast food but does fast food like Hate Cuisine?

"You cannot eat that lot? You will regret it tomorrow" Yeah Yeah alright. Does it cause me to pile on the inches. Maybe but it does not seem to harm everyone as you can see from below. Perhaps the Fish and Chip industry should look at there marketing techniques.

Perfect Partners

I have thought about this a lot. What are perfect food partners? Fish and Chips, Jam and Toast and strawberries and cream. But what about eggs and bacon, or should that be bacon and eggs?

I thought for lunch I would try and mess with this perfect partnership and throw something else in the bed. A threesome. Naughty but would it work or would something be missing?

I made this lunch time dish. Duck eggs with bacon and sandwiched in the middle a sweet potato and spinach patties.

Perhaps this naughty threesome works because of the sweet potato but then again bacon and eggs or eggs and bacon are still the perfect partners.

Does size matter?

Here at Hate Cuisine we say that size does matter, but now we are in that post Christmas period of saying "OMG I have eaten to much" perhaps size becomes less important. A good way to limit body size is to look at the size of the portions we eat. Do you find that you overload food on a plate? How about this offering from Healthy Portion Plate to regulate how much you have.

Maybe this is a much better design and gives a healthy selection than the Hate Cuisine offering.

Go Faster ................ Loose Weight

Christmas is over and the diet has begun. Those of you that know me know that I like fast bikes. It doesn't matter what you add to a bike to make it go faster the best way to increase speed is to loose something. WEIGHT. So who best to understand my problem than the Hairy Bikers

When I opened this Christmas present. My first reaction was to punch the person who bought it for me who suggested that I need to diet. The second was to try and decide who I most looked like. Perhaps I'm a morph of Si and Dave. Now my third reaction was to open the book. Great recipes well presented. May I suggest that you don't wait (or is that weight) to next Christmas to get this book.

After all that turkey. I thought I would have a go at this dish. All in one spicy pork and rice. Lovely. Is it me or do I now look less big in my leathers?
